Mind the gap - dealing with freelancers remorse

I’m a worrier. I’m the first to admit that I worry not only when I’ve got no work on but I also worry when I’ve got too much. It’s a fine line being a freelancer and the worrying is always going to be a part of the job.

One of the things I worry about which I’m sure most freelancers and self employed workers in any industry worry about is what they’re going to do when their current job is finished and there’s nothing to immediately do afterwards and you’ve got to repeat the cycle of finding and securing more work to keep the bank balance healthy.

Flickr video

Flickr it seems are ready to cash in the popularity not only of photography but video uploading and sharing by adding video uploads to their site. I must say there seems to be a lot of opposition to it from people who feel Flickr is a pure photography resource but I think their track record in developing nicely designed and functional features on the site only bodes well for people who, like myself, think youtube is a bit clunky and visually unappealling.

Having just spent several hours testing and hacking through the promising but woefully under-developed and under-supported wordpress e-commerce plugin I thought I’d share a few links to nicely built shopping sites that I’ve been looking at while working on another design for a different client. It’s difficult to criticise the wp e-commerce developers for what they’ve built as it’s a hugely promising plugin for wordpress but I’d have to say if anyone is looking it up with half a mind to use it. I’d probably recommend something different that’s a little further down the development line than this one.
