Blogging freelancers

It’s been a while since I’ve written about freelancing so I thought I’d better get back to it and to illustrate my point, I think it’s worth taking a look at the importance of maintaining a blog when you’re working on your own.

When you’re self employed/freelancing, it’s sometimes difficult to keep up with what’s going on in the wider world and maintaining a blog on your site is a useful means of interacting with a wider audience than just a simple portfolio of your work. It encourages you to research your subject matter for posts, broaden your knowledge base in a particular field and of course provides a few key SEO benefits for you including regularly updated and fresh content along with encouraging the growth of your site through more visitors and commenting and discussion on your posts.

With this in mind and with the fact I’ve finally got around to being a bit more organised with my RSS feeds that I read, here are 10 blogs run by freelance web designers that I enjoy reading and that show how a well run blog can add value to a portfolio.
