I guess it’s been coming for a long time – I just don’t have the time to write the sort of posts about the world of design and freelancing that I really want to. Instead, I recently drifted into the murky world of starting to post “best 10 something” lists.
Now I don’t mind these lists, in fact, I usually find them very useful and cram my bookmarks full of the goodies I find but this isn’t something I wanted the welcomebrand blog to become and it seems like a natuaral progression to effectively call it a day on the blog aspect of welcomebrand and just leave the posts on the site as an archive.
There’s the better part of 2 1/2 years worth of thoughts, resources and the occasional rant and I get good search engine traffic to the site so it must be fair to say some folks find it occasionally useful.
In addition to this, I’ve been thinking about radically overhauling my portfolio to strip out some deadwood, trim it right back to the bare essentials and push on with freelancing now I’ve also just become a limited company.
My new blog venture – Nicely Done CSS
As I mentioned, I like design lists and resources. As such, I’ve started a small design gallery and resource list blog called Nicely Done CSS. It’s an excuse for me to remain active in finding new stuff and posting but allows me the freedom to make a couple of quick posts more often.
I know there’s a lot of these types of sites around. I subscribe to a lot of them but I wanted to do it anyway and I hope my eye for a nice site is sufficiently different to the other folks to give some useful design inspiration. Also, it gave me a great excuse to get right into the nitty gritty of how wordpress works and what you can do with a range of wordpress custom fields for showing different content.
I hope you’ll come visit Nicely Done CSS, it’ll be updated a lot more than I ever managed with this site!
Cheers.
