I like to keep it simple when starting a project and I suspect like many of you, I’ve got my own basic “starter kit” I use to kick off projects which I tweak and modify as I go along.

My original WordPress Barebones theme was useful to some and I’ve used it myself on various themes for this site and since I wrote that one, I’ve simplified it further, stripping it right back to the barebones (see what I did there .. ) and also updating it to make use of Sass (scss) as well.

Feel free to grab a copy of the WordPress theme from Github and use it in your own theme development. I’d love to hear any suggestions on improvement or if you’ve used it on a project or site. Let me know in the comments or on Git/Twitter.
